On June 6, 2025, Director Kanae Kurata, Life Sciences Division at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), visited the Institute for Glyco-Core Research (iGCORE).
Director Kurata first visited the Higashiyama Campus of Nagoya University, part of the Tokai National Higher Education and Research System, where she had discussions with President Seiichi Matsuo of the Tokai National Higher Education and Research System and President Naoshi Sugiyama of Nagoya University. Following this, she toured iGCORE, the central research hub for the Human Glycome Atlas Project, the first major life sciences initiative under MEXT’s Large-Scale Academic Frontier Promotion Program.
During the visit, Institute Director Kenji Kadomatsu and other researchers provided explanations on cutting-edge glycoscience research, leading to a lively exchange of questions and discussions. Director Kurata also observed laboratory equipment, engaged with researchers conducting experiments, and strengthened academic exchange through direct interaction. Throughout the visit, she actively asked about ongoing life sciences research efforts, exchanging views with faculty members on the future advancement of glycoscience and the broader life sciences field.
