On July 3, 2020, Specially Appointed Assistant Professor, Dr. Naoko Komura (a member of Ando Group) received the Gifu University Commendation for Person of Merit.
The commendation is awarded directly by the President of Gifu University to distinguished individuals to acknowledge his/her remarkable contributions and services for the promotion of educational and research activities and also honor their achievements. Dr. Komura was presented the award for 2020 in recognition of her consistent, long-term efforts which brought on many successful research outcomes.
The commendation ceremony is held on June 1 every year as a part of the university anniversary events, but due to COVID-19 pandemic, all the celebratory events were canceled this year.
In lieu of that, Professor Wang Zhigang, Director of the Institute for Advanced Study (Gifu University) had the honor of presenting Dr. Komura the award on the President’s behalf.
After the ceremony, Dr. Komura, Professor Wang, Professor Hiromune Ando, Director of iGCORE, and Professor Hideharu Ishida, Director of the Center for Highly Advanced Integration of Nano and Life Sciences (G-CHAIN) held some informal talks.
The professors personally congratulated Dr. Komura on her award and praised her strong commitment and diligence to achieving results and attaining success by overcoming difficulties. The participants also exchanged their views on the opportune timing for research publications.
Lastly, Professor Wang offered Dr. Komura the following words of encouragement: “Please aim high in order to meet your ultimate goals and fulfill your missions here at one of four core educational and research directives of the Tokai National Higher Education and Research System.
