Recruitment for Designated Assistant Professor [in charge of Cohort Research management] (non-tenure track faculty position)

  • Background of the recruitment and description of the project

    The Tokai National Higher Education and Research System (THERS)—a federation of Nagoya University and Gifu University—aims to become one of the world’s premier research universities and to establish nationally and internationally recognized centers of excellence in its areas of strength. As part of this vision, the two universities jointly founded the Institute for Glyco-core Research (iGCORE), which since its launch in 2021 has advanced cutting-edge life-science research that fuses glyco-omics with mathematical and computational analytics.
    We seek to appoint one Designated Assistant Professor responsible for cohort studies. The position aims to further advance research in the field of glycobiology promoted by iGCORE by strengthening the framework and research environment for cohort studies, driving flagship projects, and enhancing collaboration with medical institutions and research organizations.

  • Work content and job description

    (Right after being hired)
    This position will be in charge of the support for our cohort research for the entire institute, with the following tasks as the main task:
    1. Listing of cohorts and related matters (e.g., large genomic and omics information, health information, medical information assessments) as needed by the researcher
    2. Coordination with cohort institutions
    3. Establishment of a system for the management and operation of the cohort sample
    4. Research support tasks for research projects conducted by iGCORE, such as research ethics review and related administrative duties.
